Snap, crackle, pop! The noise an adjustment can sometimes make is called a cavitation. That sound is just air being released when the joint space is opened ~ not bones being cracked. You will not always hear a cavitation but that doesn't mean the joint has not been mobilized.
No. Everyone is unique. Your chiropractor will develop an individual course of care just for you. This may include manual adjusting (with the hands), instrument-supported adjusting (with an activator or Arthostim), utilizing a drop table and more.
Don't worry though... your chiropractor will walk you through the process so you know and feel comfortable with the plan.
Chiropractic treatment is usually painless unless an area is inflamed (swollen). If this is the case your chiropractor will alter the treatment. Don’t worry if you hear a clicking or popping noise when one of your joints is being manipulated – this is perfectly normal. Some patients have mild reactions such as temporary aches and pains after their spine or joints have been manipulated, similar to being sore after exercising. It is important that you talk to your chiropractor if you feel worried about anything either during or after treatment. This is also important because there are many different techniques that can be used to adjust certain areas.
